The King O' The Cats' Coming Out!
Wow, writing this post I felt like it’s been a while since I did one of these and, having just checked, it actually has been quite a while. Even though we’re dusting off the cobwebs on our website, we’ve been quite busy in plenty of other areas.
This summer we did a small book tour down the East Coast and had a great time as guests of honor for Young Author’s Day at W.D. Williams Elementary near Asheville, NC even though Blue Flynn lost her voice. (In case you were wondering, Blue Flynn is the artist formerly known as Brittany, dubbed Blue by her best friend when they were just 14.) We weren't too sure what to expect, but since we had such a great time plans are underway to do it again next summer. We even got a cool Scooby Doo van, but I’ll save all that for a future post.
Now for the real point of this post. If you guys follow us on social media (if you don’t you should!) you may have noticed that Wobbly Top just announced that a new book is coming out soon. Really soon in fact! Blue literally just approved the test copy so by the time you read this the presses will be moving full steam ahead. The book is called King O’ The Cats, it’s a really special release for us because Blue wrote and illustrated it herself. Blue did a great job shining a light on this old, little known, English folktale. It’s this spooky, odd little story that fits perfectly with these brisk fall days. Not trying to give too much away, the story revolves a boy stumbling into a funeral for a mysterious cat monarchy.
We have a bunch of cool stuff planned, not in the least are regular blog posts again, but also a behind the scenes web series, new lesson plans and interactive activities. I couldn’t be more proud of Blue, this was a massive undertaking and while it wasn’t always smooth (nothing is) she stuck with it and crafted a beautiful story from top to bottom. Both of us can’t wait for you to read it and tell us your thoughts, until then check you can check out the cover and I’ll talk to you guys next week.
See you then,
